Joseph Dagen received his B.S. in psychology from Western Michigan University in 2005 and earned an MA (2007) and Ph.D. (2010) in behavioral psychology from the University of Nevada Reno. With approximately 15 years of experience, Dr. Dagen focuses on leadership development in high-hazard industries, behavioral safety, instructional design, and systems analysis.
He is a trustee for the Cambridge Center for Behavior Studies (CCBS) and was a commissioner for the CCBS behavior-based safety accreditation team. Dr. Dagen has presented and published basic, applied, and theoretical papers across topics such as feedback systems in petrochemical operations and improving sports performance in skilled athletes. Dr. Dagen has also served as a reviewer for the Journal of Organizational Behavior Management and the Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis.
As a graduate student, Dr. Dagen taught undergraduate statistics and introductory psychology for 4 years, and despite being a lifelong stutterer, consistently received exceptional student evaluations. His courses were so popular that the university newspaper published an article about his introductory statistics course - a course most undergraduates universally fear.
