144 | Default Mode Network of the Brain
What to Expect:
A conundrum: What is being at rest or doing nothing? Under what conditions do we think without being influenced by our experiences? We discuss the prolific explosion of research on the “default mode network” and the epistemological underpinnings of this hypothesis. We also talk about how this relates to autism and Alzheimer’s. Against the grain of popular neuropsychology, we express some skepticism about the utility of the idea of the default mode network.
